Winners of five 2010 statewide
OCUF scholarships announced

The Ohio Credit Union Foundation (OCUF) is pleased to announce the 2010 winners of the annual statewide credit union scholarship competition, who will share $12,500 for their post-secondary education.

The five winners of the $2,500 OCUF scholarships are: Courtney Wooten from the Central Ohio Chapter; Sarah Courey from the Mahoning Valley Chapter; Abigail Gross from the Miami Valley Chapter; Samantha Molnar from the Northwest Chapter; and Evan Rebillot from the Summit Chapter. More than 1,200 participated in the annual statewide scholarship contest sponsored by the 15 Chapters of the Ohio Credit Union League.

As part of the application, students submitted a written or video essay addressing the significant challenges facing the U.S. economy, steps families can take to meet the financial challenges, and how credit unions can help. Two of the statewide winners took advantage of the new video application.

This year’s entries were judged by chapter representatives, many of whom serve as their chapter’s Foundation liaisons. In addition to judging the 2010 scholarship entries, they participated in a video scholarship training session and developed recommendations for the 2011 program. The recommendations will be shared with the League and Foundation boards during their May meetings.
