Winner of 2011
OCUF video scholarships announced
The Ohio Credit
Union Foundation (OCUF) recently awarded its $5,000 video
scholarship, which was available to Ohio credit union members
pursuing an undergraduate degree. Twenty-two video submissions were
received, addressing the scholarship question, “If your money
talked, what would it say about you?”
Eric Niemeyer, a member of KEMBA Financial CU, won by evoking the
spirit of George Washington to teach the importance of savings. The
video also included budgeting tips via an original rap. When asked
how his credit union can help achieve his future financial goals,
Niemeyer responded, “My credit union provides several savings and
investment options that I plan to take advantage of. At KEMBA
Financial Credit Union, I don’t feel like just an account
number.” Niemeyer plans to attend Northwestern University in the
fall.
Entries were judged on content, design, originality, and use of
enhancements. OCUF Trustees determined the $5,000 scholarship
winner, after League staff narrowed down the videos to five strong
candidates.
